At the invitation of Eric Roshardt, the president of the local committee, I attended a breakfast meeting with scholars, alumni and scholarship candidates. After a short welcome by Mirna de Halimbourg, the secretary of the local committee, José Escobar, a prominent entrepreneur of El Salvador, gave a speech. In this speech he outlined how he, stemming from a low-income family with many children that lived in the province, gradually became one of El Salvador's most successful entrepreneurs. In particular, he outlined the enormous importance of education, and how his career was only possible thanks to hard work and a large degree of modesty. After this speech the scholarship candidates spoke their oath regarding the Compromiso de Honor. Finally, and with gratitude for the support of Fundación Educación, some of the alumni reported about their first professional experiences.
