Daniel finalized his studies in 2009 by simultaneously graduating with two diplomas: the first, as a mechanical engineer of the EAFIT in Medellín, the second, as an Engineer and Master of Science of the „École Nationale d’Ingénieurs de Metz“. He continued his academic career at the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint-Etienne, where he graduated in 2012 with a doctorate. In the same year he started his post-doctoral studies as a research assistant at the École Polytechnique Fédérale, in Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. The EPFL is one of the most renowned French-speaking universities worldwide.
From 2012 through 2014 Daniel was a member of the board of ACIS (Asociación Colombiana de Investigadores en Suiza). This association, founded in 1992, represents and fosters students from Colombia who are either studying or active in research projects in Switzerland (www.acis.ch).
