Egla Maday was born in a low-income family who lives in a rural village of the highland of
Guatemala. Despite their economic situation, her parents always encouraged Egla to study. She took
the chance and graduated with honors as an Agriculture Engineer at UVG Campus Altiplano.
Currently, Egla works for a "USAID" project called "More Watering", which is part of the "Feeding
the Future" initiative. Her task is to give technical orientation and support to low income families in
various communities of the Guatemala highlands.
Her greatest satisfaction is to see how nutrition of low income families is gradually improving,
and consequently, how these families become able to increase both their income and living
 conditions.
