My name is Sharis Barrios and I am 21 years old. I was born in San Rafael, San Marcos; a department of Guatemala. Currently, I live in Guatemala City with my mother and my two sisters, which are the pillars of my life. Last year, 2019, I finished my studies at the Francisco Marroquín University in the Business Engineering degree. Now I can say that studying at this university thanks to the scholarship that Fundación Educación gave me was one of the best experiences of my life. Throughout the four years of the career I learned and grew academically in knowledge and everything helped me to expand my vision of life and my future goals. My example motivated several members of my family to resume or start their university studies and I feel proud of that. The scholarship, the university, my friends, classmates and teachers I met have inspired me to give more of myself and build a better reality for my family, my community and my country.
Currently, I work in the financial area of the country working in Banco Agromercantil de Guatemala (BAM), in the area of Innovation and Analytics as an Analyst of Analytical Skills. I started working at the end of January. I consider that my skills, knowledge and prestige of the University helped me to get what I currently have. I started my job search in December and in January successfully later of several interviews I got this job. And I feel blissful to belong to this foundation and have studied at the Francisco Marroquín University since they will give me many tools to qualify the area of my interest.
The only thing that I can do is to thank and contribute to those who helped me. Being a member of the Fundación Educación I have more than an obligation I have a commitment of honor. This commitment is to give a contribution with the rest of the members of the foundation to finance in the future scholarships to brilliant people who do not have the necessary resources to do. And I want to respect and to collaborate every time I can with this goal because I know what it means and all the benefits that other people can get.
