After more than five successful years at the helm of the Local Committee in Colombia, Jorge Gonzalo Tabares Mesa will hand over his position to Marcela Yepes Rendón on December 15.
Jorge was bid farewell in his role as president with a moving farewell ceremony in Medellín, organized by the scholarship holders themselves. This sign of appreciation illustrates how strongly Jorge and his team have been committed to the well-being and personal and academic development of the more than 60 students currently enrolled at EAFIT University and Colegio Pedro Justo Berrío. With warmth, personal proximity, his incomparable charm, and tireless dedication, Jorge has opened countless doors. He has shaped our young people academically and personally. We are very pleased that Jorge will continue to contribute his experience and will join the Comité Asesor in the future.
Marcela Yepes Rendón, a dynamic entrepreneur who knows our foundation inside out, is taking over as president. This is the first time in the history of Fundación Educación that a former scholarship recipient from our program has taken on this important role. After graduating with a degree in business administration, Marcela held various management positions. In addition to her entrepreneurial activities, she is now also active as an investor. As an alumna, she was always an exemplary model for the Compromiso de Honor and was actively involved in the work of the foundation for many years. Last year, she led the alumni organization as president with great success and set important priorities.
We are convinced that the program in Colombia will continue to grow thanks to her enthusiasm, leadership skills, and numerous new ideas. Marcela will open up additional opportunities for young talents and our graduates and further strengthen the existing network.
We would like to thank Jorge from the bottom of our hearts for his outstanding work and warmly welcome Marcela to her new position.
