Virtual meeting of all active members of the foundation - Exchange on best practices

Fundación Educación runs scholarship programs in Peru, Colombia, El Salvador and Guatemala in close cooperation with local partners. Within the foundation and in the respective country programs, the same objectives, procedures and values apply. Accordingly, it is important to maintain an exchange between all active members of our foundation and to promote the exchange of experience between the country programs.

To this end, a virtual conference was held on November 15, 2021, attended by the Swiss Foundation Board, members of the four Local Committees, and representatives of the alumni organizations.

With great satisfaction, it was possible to look back on the successful work of the foundation in recent years, but various fields for future development were also identified.

The acute health and economic crisis of the Covid 19 pandemic was difficult for all four country programs, but has been well managed so far. There was consensus that the foundation has emerged stronger, precisely because the social value of education, networks, solidarity and a sense of civil responsibility, where the foundation focuses, has been brought back to the fore. In addition, the closer contact resulting from the virtual forms of communication has brought all the members of the foundation together as one big family.

The greatest challenge currently facing all country programs is the further digitization of processes, especially in light of the growing number of fellows and alumni. Although significant progress has been made in the implementation of the "Compromiso de Honor" in the past two years, despite the huge economic and personal difficulties caused by the pandemic, various initiatives to further strengthen it were discussed. Everyone agreed that the "Compromiso de Honor" is a very special feature of the Foundation: the personal commitment of each Becario to repay his scholarship not only has a significant financial role for the foundation, but at the same time promotes cohesion and solidarity between alumni and scholarship holders and commitment to society.

The reports from the alumni organizations indicated that, in addition to pure networking and job fairs, our becarios and alumni are offered a wide variety of programs, such as mentoring, courses to improve soft skills, lectures by business representatives, and much more. A big praise to the extremely committed and proactive boards of the alumni organizations!

It was nice for all participants to spend a few hours in the circle of people who, carried by the same practice-oriented idealism, put a lot of time and energy into the realization of a common mission:

To shape youthful talent into leaders for a better tomorrow - We empower talent for change!
