As announced, last year Fundación Educación initiated a partnership with the Edunámica Foundation for a university-level scholarship program in Costa Rica. The Swiss foundation "Edunámica," co-founded by our board member Steffen Tolle, has been active in the education sector in Costa Rica for 20 years, focusing on nurturing young talents, primarily within primary and secondary education.
Our local committee in Costa Rica consists of Óscar López, the long-serving Executive Director of Edunámica, as President, and Ricardo Quesada as the responsible project associate/executive secretary.
It is with great passion that both have laid the foundations for the scholarship program over the past 18 months. After a pilot project in 2023 with two scholars, this spring, an additional four scholars were admitted to the renowned Universidad Latina de Costa Rica. We will soon also be awarding scholarships at the new LEAD University. Advantageous agreements have been concluded with both universities.
We warmly welcome Óscar and Ricardo to our Gran Familia Fundación Educación and thank them for the excellent work they have already done.
Two welcome events have already taken place, on May 10, 2023, and April 27, 2024, where our new scholars also committed to the Compromiso de Honor.
