Change in the Foundation Board

We thank Prof. Yvette Sánchez and welcome Prof. Jan Marco Leimeister

Since its inception, Fundación Educación has been closely linked to the University of St. Gallen (HSG). Not only is it based there, but according to its statutes, HSG appoints one representative from the professorial staff and one from the alumni association to the Foundation Board.

After 17 years of distinguished service as a member of the Foundation Board, Prof. em. Dr. Yvette Sánchez stepped down from her position at the last Foundation Board meeting. As a full professor of Spanish language and literature and director of the Centro Latinoamericano-Suizo at the HSG (CLS-HSG), she has been a long-standing advocate for Latin American issues at the university and throughout Switzerland as head of the Leading House for the Latin American Region (SBFI), sharing her knowledge with the foundation. She also enjoyed maintaining contact with scholarship holders during numerous visits to EAFIT. The foundation, as well as current and former scholars, would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Yvette for her many years of commitment to our foundation.

We are very pleased that a worthy successor has been found in Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister, full professor of business informatics at the HSG. Prof. Leimeister has Peruvian and German roots and is passionate about both the education of young talent and Latin America. He is the managing director of the Institute for Business Informatics (IWI-HSG) at the HSG. Prof. Leimeister's teaching and research focus on digital business, digital transformation, service design, crowdsourcing, collaboration engineering, and IT innovation management. He also advises companies and organizations and acts as a coach, advisor, and speaker, among other things. We warmly welcome Jan Marco to our Foundation Board and look forward to working with him, especially with regard to our goal of increasing the digitalization of our processes.
