New appointments to our Foundation Board

Nikolaus Schedlbauer takes over responsibility for Guatemala and Alfredo Cuéllar for El Salvador

The Foundation Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Nikolaus Schedlbauer and Alfredo Cuéllar. They will take over responsibility for the programs in Guatemala and El Salvador respectively from Ricardo Cordero.

For more than 13 years, Ricardo has been very successful and dedicated in his role as country responsible for Guatemala and El Salvador. During this time, the number of scholarship holders and partner schools has grown, the alumni associations have consolidated, and the “Compromiso de Honor” has become more firmly established as a special feature of our foundation. Above all, Ricardo greatly valued the exchange with the respective scholarship holders and enjoyed acting as a mentor. In the future, he will concentrate on his work as president of our foundation to implement the Strategic Plan 2035; the ambitious goals require more intensive leadership work.

Nikolaus Schedlbauer is a German citizen and lives in Zurich. He was born in El Salvador to a Salvadoran mother and grew up in neighboring Guatemala due to the turmoil of civil war; his family still lives in Guatemala today. He studied mechanical engineering and entrepreneurship at Tufts University in Massachusetts. After holding various positions in technical and strategic sales and key account management, he has been a partner and managing director at Sandler Training, a leading global provider of sales and business development training, since 2012.

Alfredo Cuéllar is a Salvadoran and Swiss citizen and lives in the canton of Zurich. The son of Salvadoran parents, he grew up in El Salvador. He earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University and his master's degree in chemical technology from the Technical University of Darmstadt. He then went on to complete his doctorate in chemistry at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. During his professional career, he has held leading technical positions in the chemical industry and waste management in Italy, Germany, and Switzerland, including at ABB Switzerland.

Nikolaus and Alfredo are delighted to take on responsibility for their respective country programs on the Foundation Board and to contribute to the long-term development of their home countries by supporting young, well-educated high achievers.

We warmly welcome you and look forward to working with you!
