Jhoselyn Gaviria, Colombia

EAFIT, 9th semester, Public Accounting

Raised in the Comuna 13 of Medellín, which for a long time was at the centre of the drug war, her good performance, especially in mathematics, made her stand out early on. After finishing school, she began a commercial education at a university of applied sciences. Coincidentally, she did her internship at EAFIT and thus got to know the University and Fundación Educación.

The fact that people she hardly knew granted her a scholarship to study public accounting at EAFIT was a unique event in her life. Parallel to her studies, she has been working in the EAFIT library and has offered pro bono courses in accounting for small businesses.

Today she works at Deloitte & Touche, which offered her a permanent position after an internship. At Fundación Educación she particularly appreciates the exchange with the representatives of the local committee and with other scholarship holders as well as the opportunity to contribute financially to make the dream of studying at EAFIT come true for other young people.
