Salomón Ajiquiche, Guatemala

Salomón comes from a low-income family from the very rural Altiplano in Guatemala. Despite the modest conditions in which Salomón grew up, his parents always insisted on a good education and supported him in all school matters.
Thanks to this strong motivation he passed the entrance examination to the UVG, Campus Altiplano. At this university, he took up studies in Agricultural Sciences and soon first successes appeared. His biggest success so far was that he was accepted in the prestigious ACCESS program. In 2015 he was selected to both represent the UVG as well as the program itself in Washington, D.C. His presentation focused mainly on how a good education can significantly affect not only the life of an individual, but also the future of a country.
